Scuba Diving Cabo San Lucas, Sea of Cortez, Mexico
Called ‘The Worlds Aquarium’ by the grandfather of diving, Jacques Cousteau, the Sea of Cortez is home to over 80% of the worlds cetacean species (whales, dolphins, sea lions, etc) and boasts over 800 species of fish. Add to this the beauty of the coral encrusted rocky reefs and the richness of the invertebrate life and scuba diving in Cabo San Lucas is a divers delight.
While the warm desert air, endless days of sunshine and warmth are constant year round here in the southern Baja, the seas surrounding Cabo are constantly in flux. Being at the tip of the Baja, where 3 oceanic currents converge, our conditions are always changing, bring new marine life to encounter while diving.
What is always constant is the large amount of fish surrounding the reefs in the Marine Protected Area (MPA) of Cabo San Lucas and the Marine Park in Cabo Pulmo. Constant as well is the never ending surprise of reef life, while we may dive the same site 2 or 3 times in the same week, it is always different with pelagic species passing by in the blue and different marine organisms populating the steep walls.
