November is the time of year when the land temps have cooled off to less than desert like conditions, still lots of sunshine everyday (but that never changes here) and the travelers who visit the Baja every year come back.
November is the time of year when the land temps have cooled off to less than desert like conditions, still lots of sunshine everyday (but that never changes here) and the travelers who visit the Baja every year come back.

The staff of Barefoot Dive Pro were busy with a lot of trips to Gordo Banks for the hammerheads. It seems that as the water starts to cool off just a bit the school size increases and the usually timid sharks show themselves a bit more. Over the month our divers also spotted a whale shark, manta and devil rays, schools of tuna, jacks and some large wahoo. It was a month of great trips, big adventures and big smiles!

This was also a great month for our naturalist led whale shark snorkeling trips to La Paz with multiple sightings on every trip. Special recognition goes out to our youngest snorkeler ever, Sandy, at 9 years old, was a fearless participant and another young whale shark conservation advocate. It was our pleasure to help identify 4 new whale sharks through uploading our images to Ecocean and their ID project. The whale sharks are still around for a few more months, so get in touch with us today and plan for an amazing day trip to La Paz with our specialists/photo pros.

Diving in the Cabo San Lucas MPA was great as well, the schools of sardines seem to have moved on now, but big schools of snapper, goatfish and mullet have been collecting around Lands End and Pelican Rock. It is a real delight to watch sea lions arcing through the schools, it looks so easy for them. Neptunes Finger was a hot spot this month for schools of rays passing by, some of the schools literally blocked out the sun!

Whales Are Back!! We had some very lucky divers visiting Cabo this month, as we had several encounters with pods of dolphins feeding right outside Cabo bay and several visits with Humpback Whales as well. Surface intervals seem to fly by when dolphins and whales are hanging around.

Thats it for scuba diving in Cabo San Lucas for November. We are excited to see what December brings, some new divers heading this way for PADI Divemaster Internships and Instructor level training and December was the best month last year for schooling Hammerheads at Gordo Banks! Finger crossed and hope to see you soon in Sunny Los Cabos, Mexico.
