PADI Pro Training Philosophy, Barefoot Dive Pro
Why do divers ‘Go Pro’? For some it all starts on a tropical vacation trying scuba for the first time, for others it is exploring a reef and interacting with the amazing marine life, maybe it is seeing the ‘real world’ for a change, or perhaps it was meeting dive professionals, seeing the rewards of such a lifestyle and realizing how easily it can become their own reality.
The dive industry is a dynamic, rewarding and exciting recreational sport to be professionally involved in and has countless career opportunities for people from all different cultures and backgraounds. At Barefoot Dive Pro we are passionate and excited by our work, and here is how we can help you be a part of this amazing sport and lifestyle too.
My name is Peter and I am the Director of Professional Training for Barefoot Dive Pro at Sunshine Dive and Charter in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California, Mexico. I oversee all of our professional training programs and work with Philipp Moser and the rest of the staff at Sunshine. As a dive professional you want to make sure that you get off to the best start with your dive career and that means looking for the right dive facility and staff to undertake your PADI Divemaster, Instructor level and specializing educational programs with. We’d like to help you decide if Barefoot Dive Pro is the place you would like to be trained as a PADI Pro and if our team of dive professionals are the people you want to learn from.
We do not claim to be the best or the biggest and we don’t want to be the cheapest, as that would only compromise your training and experience. There are other much more commercial, bigger and more business oriented pro diver programs where you can undertake your courses. We prefer a more presonalized, real world approach to PADI pro training and we hope to give you an idea of what you recieve when you take your training with us in regards to our staff, experience, facility, reputation, attitude, ambience, atmosphere and training philosophies. Once you’ve met our staff you” be inspired and motivated that you decided to take your professional training with us.
In 2011 more PADI pros wanted and chose to conduct their professional training with us that any other professional training facility in the Baja, based on our reputation for success with and beyond the exams and our lifetime pledge to all our trainees. Your Divemaster training will be coordinated by a Course Director, your Instructor level training will be taught by a Course Director in a group size of not more than 6:1. This ratio allows us to provide dedicated personal instruction and share our teaching experience and knowledge with you, we even have fun!
The fact that in 2011 over 80% of our Go Pro candidates chose us through word of mouth recommendation, not advertising or marketing, is a recognition of the quality, professionalism, knowledge, expertise and fun that we put into every PADI pro program. We ensure that in addition to professionalism, safety, and high standards all the pros we train leave Barefoot having had a rewarding, exciting, educational and fun experience with an open door to returning in the future.
Our philosophies and the thoroughness of the training and the options you have with Barefoot are unmatched in the region. We use the latest technologies mixed with personal coaching, spending less time in a traditional classroom and more time in practical training exercises, simulating the real circumstances you will be working in. Our confined water training site is a shallow protected clear beach and bay that will help preparing you for the when you come to teach diving yourself. Calm and protected from waves and boat traffic, the nearby location means more time for you practicing and improving your own skills and teaching techniques.
Our staff has received numerous awards from PADI for their work in training dive professionals and between them to date have certified over 2500 divers with an additional 700+ at the professional level. I have been awarded the highest rating a PADI Course Director can receive as a ‘Platinum’ status. No other PADI program in the Baja Mexico has a Platinum PADI Course Director.
As a dive professional I am passionate about dive travel and adventure, having previously dove in British Columbia, the Florida Keys, Belize, Honduras, Borneo, Australia, Saba, St Maarten, St Barts, Playa del Carmen and many more. As well as holding the highest qualification in recreational diving as a PADI Course Director my other diving interests are in Shark Conservation as the Executive Director of the Shark Legacy Project, as a Hyperbaric Chamber Technician with the NBMDHT and supporting local marine conservation initiatives.
The team that I work closely with includes PADI IDC Staff Instructor Philipp Moser from Italy/Austria. Philipp is also a certified commercial diver, having worked all over the world in deep, dark, amazing conditions. Now he spends his time focusing on recreational diving, teaching dive professionals and supporting marine conservation.
Our backgrounds include; Marine Biology, Industrial Design and Engineering, Bar tending, business consultation and marketing and more. These have bestowed upon us the important principles in customer service of professionalism, integrity, commitment and customization which helps us to deliver your training and experience in a dedicated, personal manner. All of these attributes we put forward to making sure you get the best start you can in your diving career.
We both have worked for many years as dive professionals and have certified thousands of divers at all levels, but we still enjoy the variety of teaching everything from beginners to pros. Training PADI pros how to be safe, professional, successful and fun is a focus in all of our programs. We are both DSAT Gas Blender Instructors and I offer the full range of Divers Alert Network courses and we are able to teach in English, Spanish, French, Italian, and German.
When we are not busy teaching divers we are often busy supporting the Shark Legacy Project as we take new steps to create another marine sanctuary for sharks. This includes diving, photographing and collecting data for the research project, all in the presence of sharks. As a commitment to the future of healthy marine environments we also qualify PADI Instructors in Whale Shark Awareness and Shark Awareness, specialized marine science training to help keep you on the forefront of environmental issues and training.
Our commitment to you doesn’t end when the course is finished.
