Open Water Diver Course, Referrals, Cabo San Lucas

The Open Water Diver certification is the first complete PADI certification you can earn and the most chosen course for beginning scuba students in Mexico and worldwide. This license is the most widely recognized in the recreational diving industry and will allow you to rent gear and/or sign up for dives anywhere in the world, independent of professional supervision, to a maximum depth of 60 feet/18 meters.

Barefoot Dive Pro’s Instructors have the highest ratings and most experience in the Los Cabos region of Mexico, a great team of pro’s we hope you will chose to start your diving career with. We are the only dive operation in Cabo San Lucas to only offer exclusively private dive courses, a reflection of our dedication to you.

All student divers enrolling in a PADI course are required to fill out the PADI Medical Statement. Please download and print out a copy. If you answer YES to any of the conditions you will need to see your doctor for clearance before we can begin your scuba training.

Step 1 for the Open Water Course

You can start this scuba diving course today with PADI © eLearning. This method allows you to complete the dive theory portion of the program online before you come to Cabo, saving you time on your vacation. In 2010 over 80% of our students chose © eLearning over the traditional DVD and book study option.

Step 2 and Referrals

No matter which dive theory option you chose, after the learning is done we head to the calm protected waters of the bay to practice the skills you will need to master over 5 confined water sessions. One on one with your instructor you are briefed on a how to perform a skill, shown the skill, and then asked to practice the skill yourself. This can be a lot of fun, trying new skills and approaches to diving safely and with skill in shallow water. This typically takes about 2 half days to complete (or for referrals about 2+ hours).

Once you have completed the shallow water skills it is time to explore the reefs of the Cabo San Lucas Marine Protected Area. There are 4 dives required to earn your certification, but we are flexible in scheduling to allow you to progress at your own pace. Typically we schedule two dives on each of two consecutive afternoons.

Typically the ©eLearning course runs over 3 days, or 2 days if you will be completing your referral dive training option with Barefoot Dive Pro. You’ll be amazed and end up asking yourself why you never tried this course earlier. Be warned – scuba diving is addictive!

All Barefoot Dive Pro core course prices include; required PADI materials, dives, instruction, equipment rental and certification fees.

Enjoy the peace of mind earning your PADI Open Water Diver certification or completing your dive referral with the highest rated, most experienced dive instructors in Cabo San Lucas, Barefoot Dive Pro. We look forward to introducing you to the wonderful reef life of the southern Sea of Cortez, Mexico.
